CASA CARLOTTA is a residency program and creative laboratory that connects contemporary artistic practices and creatives with positive global action, through site-specific projects, curated collective residencies, and social good initiatives.
.

Casa Carlotta creates customised models with its invited residents and curators for collective residencies. Over the course of 1-2 week periods, we will invent structures and systems of living and doing together that mix workshops, cooking, individual studio time, building and farming projects, group projects and performances, and outreach studies and activities within the local territory. The aim, as a collective residency, is neither to form artists, nor teach art, nor merely to give space for isolated production — but rather to give place and tools through the arts to the formation and activation of global citizens in chorus, of doing in unison, eager to learn from a localised yet collectivist life embedded within nature, culture, and heritage.

Casa Carlotta is also interested in activating the local Alpine region, creating ties with neighbours, regional producers, historians, arts organisations, artisans, and rural activists. Casa Carlotta’s door is open to the community, helping to preserve hyper local history and heritage as a model for the future.

Casa Carlotta will also host:

Individual residencies throughout the year at accessible rates for residents to create and research personal projects in the inspiring space of the house and mountains.

Public exhibitions, concerts, and workshops in collaboration with the local community and municipality.

Retreats, research groups, and creative teams, offering a space for collective being and doing together.

And is open to all and ideas for imaginative living and doing together

We believe that...

Contemplation can create space for the silence and stillness that creation needs.

Creation cannot be framed or planned in the space of a
 residency, only nourished by it.

Progress is not linear, that it is not isolated in the future,
but can be found in the patterns and possibilities of
the past.

Our space is to share; that to build a commons
dedicated to thought, processes, art, and discourse
is important, that it can happen in a home and travel
elsewhere.

Non-productive forms of living and doing will nourish us,
teach us, and feed our imaginations.

Interdisciplinarity is a model for the natural and social
world, that the interconnection and diversity of disciplines
can be lived out here and will lead to knowledge and
change.

Horizontal flows of knowledge and learning are
forms of imaginative resistance.

Living together and apart at the same time is our goal,
that we are essentially in-the-world-with-others, and if
we pay attention to the rhythm such living implies, we can
connect deeply with ourselves, others, where we are and
where we want to go.

We are a mutable form, that we can grow together an
archive, a network, a web of interconnected creators,
actors, and thinkers that can and will constantly adapt,
deconstruct, build differently and towards a
future together.
